RespectWorld of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online game. Its focus is on social interaction and teamwork. As an online game, many of the characters you see will be played by people:
Be sensitive to this. Don't assume everyone can figure out what you mean if you make up your own spelling and grammar instead of using standard English protocol. People will try, and they might even succeed sometimes. But if they don't, don't get defensive - it all started with how you wrote what you thought. Just try again a different way. Games are a form of entertainment. People play them to enjoy themselves. Any efforts you make to impede others' enjoyment is not constructive. PvP, dueling, battlegrounds and interfaction rivalry is a part of the game. Fight fairly. Win humbly. Lose graciously. Don't spit - remember what culture your opponent hails from. For battlegrounds to work, Alliance needs Horde and Horde needs Alliance. If either faction becomes insufferable, everyone loses. Swearing, blaspheming, trolling, antagonising, ridiculing and other antisocial behaviour does the community no benefit. It doesn't make you look grown up. This is not a commercial endeavour; Feenix lives or dies by its community integrity. Steer clear of public discussion of evocative topics such as politics and religion. Conduct such discussion through private whisper or form a party for it if more than two are involved. Racism, sexism and iconoclasm will not be tolerated. No warning. Screenshot, guild kick. Anyone who trivialises, jokes about, makes fun of or glorifies rape (such as claiming "alliance are raping horde in WSG!") will similarly be expelled. Once you have watched several of your friends survive the ordeal, and see them struggling with the consequences even ten years later, you will never see this violation as something light-hearted. You have been warned. Play nicely. |
