Loot

Gear comes in various qualities:
Name Colour Availability Binding
Poor Grey Drops Never
Common White Low-level quests, drops Quest rewards bind automatically; other common items never bind
Uncommon Green Mid-level quests, drops Quest rewards bind automatically; other uncommon items usually bind when equipped
Rare Blue High-level quests, drops Quest rewards bind automatically; other rare items usually bind when picked up
Epic Purple End-game quests (usually), drops (rarely) Quest rewards bind automatically; other epic items usually bind when picked up
Legendary Orange Quest chains, one-off realm events Bind when picked up

  • Typically when you solo play (questing, grinding or farming), you will obtain gear that is bound to you.
    • When a quest completes, the reward is automatically bound to you (usually).
    • When looting certain items, you will simply accept the dialogue box that tells you "Looting this item will bind it to you."
  • When you team play, certain gear can only be allocated to one member present.
    • When a quest container/corpse spawns, quest items are automatically bound to you and available to all (usually).
    • When looting corpses, a loot roller will appear to decide who gets the item.
    • When looting chests, no loot roller will appear. Whoever picks up the item, has the item. If that binds the item to you, nobody else has a chance to use that item. If that item is more useful to or appropriate for use by others present and it is bound to you, you will frustrate people.
    • If you will use the item most of the time, roll Need (the die icon).
    • If you will use the item occasionally or simply sell it, roll Greed (the coin icon).
    • If you do not want the item, click Pass (the X icon to close the dialogue box).
  • When you run stealth instances with the guild, there will typically be characters present with the Enchanting profession. They are able to make use of bind-on-pickup items that nobody can equip or nobody wants.
    • If you will use the item, roll Need (the die icon).
    • If you will disenchant the item, roll Greed (the coin icon).
    • If you do not want the item, click Pass (the X icon to close the dialogue box).

It is critical that you understand Bind On Pickup

BOP gear is bound to whoever picks it up first. If you pick it up and someone else wants or deserves it more than you, it is already too late. Get it right.

Troubleshooting

When everyone has entered their selection into the loot roller, everyone should be able to see the results.

If you cannot see who rolled what, or who won what, then a mod is likely interfering with your GUI.

Fix it urgently.
